Concra Wood Juvenile Golf Notes

What a fantastic sunny summers afternoon for golf in Concra Wood. Congratulations to Conor Mc Caul on winning the Red Group competition this week. Conor is no stranger to the winning line up in Concra. Rachel Mc Loughlan wins the Blue Group competition and this is Rachel’s first individual win of the season, congratulations Rachel! The winner of the Yellow Group was newcomer Rian Mc Grath, well done Rian and hopefully, this is just the start of a long and successful winning streak.
Next week we have our first stroke competition. Please enter the competition in the Pro Shop and then make your way up to the hut and the Putting Green.
Date for your Diary: Sunday 28th July is the Captains’ Prize to the Juveniles. Captain Patsy and Lady Captain Andrea will present the prizes after the golf and some finger food.

Conor Fox wins the first major competition of the season!
26 eager juvenile golfers took to the fairways on Sunday afternoon 30th June to play in the first major competition of the summer, which was kindly sponsored by Head Professional at Concra Wood, Conor Mc Kenna. A very enjoyable presentation of prizes took place after the golf, followed by some delicious finger food. Along with the coveted prizes to be won on the day there was also the chance to earn the first Golfer of the Year points.
The winner of the Professional Prize to the juveniles in the Red Group with an amazing score of 16 points was Conor Fox, followed closely by Cormac Conlon and Jake O Connor with 14 points. The winner of the Blue Group was Somhairle Mc Enaney with 13 points and in second place was Christian Traynor with 8points. The winner of the Yellow Group was Ryan Mc Dermott with 7points. Congratulations to all the winners and well done to all those who took part.
There will be no golf next Sunday due to a Ladies Open Competition and the Family Day at Muckno Mania.
Reminder: 9 Hole Repeater competition is up and running. Use the new 9 Hole Juvenile cards if you are playing the front nine and use the 18 hole card for the back nine. Play off the Red Tee boxes, enter fee is €1 each time you play. Enter your name in the competition book in the Pro Shop and return your completed cards to the Juvenile scorecard box- No Computer.

Our first individual stableford competition of the season took place on Sunday 23rd June. Winner of the Red Group was Conor Mc Caul with 13pts, winner of the Blue Group was newcomer to Concra Darragh O Connor with 6pts and the winner of the Yellow Group was Harry Sibley with 11 pts. Congratulations lads and well done to all those who took part. Can we have all the golfers from the Red Group assemble at the Pro Shop at 3.15pm sharp next Sunday?
Next week is the first major competition, kindly sponsored by Conor Mc Kenna, Pro at Concra Wood. The first Golfer of the Year points will also be awarded in the Red Group for this competition.
A presentation of prizes will take place immediately after the golf on Sunday at approx.6.15pm.
The Juvenile Committee would like to thank all those helped out on Sunday and remind people that a rota for volunteering is available in the Pro shop, so please put your name down.

A fantastic turn out on Sunday 16th June with 31 juvenile members playing in almost sunny conditions. The winners of the Red Tee Box scramble were: Scott Mc Loughlin, Joseph Donaghy, Jake O Connor and Conor Mc Caul with 41 strokes. Well Done and Congratulations!
The winners of the Blue Scramble were Sonhairle Mc Eneaney, Kealon Dignam, Aaron O Connor and Alex Mc Ginnity. Brilliant result lads1
The winners of the Yellow 6 Hole Scramble were Kiera Mc Loughlin, Aoibheann Mc Eneaney, Rachel Mc Loughlin and Katie Scarlett Mc Caul. Congratulations girls but its 9 holes next week.
Next Sunday, 23rd June we will have our first individual
Stableford competition and we are expecting a large turnout for this
competition. The Juvenile Committee would be delighted if some parents
would volunteer and stay on to help supervise. We are in the process of drawing
up a rota so please put your name down we would really appreciate the extra

Concra Wood Juvenile Golfers got off to a great start this season on 26th May with a very enjoyable 9 and 6 Hole Yellow Scramble. It was great to see so many of our young golfers back again and a huge welcome to all the new juvenile members who have joined us this year. The overall winners of the 9 Hole Yellow Scramble were Ross Lennon, Conor Fox and Darragh O Connor. 2nd Place Cormac Conlon, Theo Mc Mahon and Shane Millar. The winners of the 6 Hole Scramble were Alex, Aaron and Bobby. Congratulations lads!
Sunday 9th June saw our juvenile golfers play the Blue 9 Hole Scramble. Winners Jake O Connor, Joseph Donaghy and Tommy Moffett.Winners of the 6 Hole Yellow scramble: Ryan Mc Dermott, Harry Sibley and Jamie Irwin. Well Done and Congratulations!
Next week’s competition (16th June) is also a Blue Scramble.Sunday 23rd June will see the start of our 6/9 Hole Stableford Competitions.
